There are nine different Charlie Awards.
Three of the Awards are worked out automatically for those who qualify, so no nominations are needed.These are the Growth Store of the Year, Fresh Store of the Year and Rookie of the Year Awards.
For the other Award categories, you either nominate yourself or you can be nominated by any other Four Square member or Foodie from the Support Centre.
Each Award is different so the judging criteria is unique to each Award.
Each Award entry is evaluated by a panel of judges. Some of our judges are from within our Co-op (but for fairness outside of our Four Square team), some are independent, passionate foodies and retail entrepreneurs.
Every Award finalist will need to meet our Four Square Operational Standards to be in the running to win. Our Standards include store operations along with strong employee engagement and great safety practices. You can check out the Standards on our FAQ page.

Under normal circumstances we’ll run The Charlies from the start of each financial year. Because of COVID19, any of this year’s Awards that require a calculation on things like store sales will be calculated from 1 June 2020.
